Who Cares? Scotland was established in 1978 to act as the consumer voice of looked after young people. The organisation is committed to improving the standard of life for all looked after young people in Scotland. To achieve this aim, the organisation ensures that young people are consulted and given the opportunity to voice their point of view. Who Cares? Scotland also aims to raise awareness of the problems affecting young people with experience of care. Who Cares? Scotland is involved in the following projects and activities:

  • Young persons' workers are independent people who can help put the views and opinions of young people across to individuals and organisations which affect a person's life.
  • The Information and Training Project has improved the quality and range of information provided and involved young people in its production.
  • The Mental Health Project consults looked after young people and service providers with a view to raising awareness, improving understanding, and guiding young people.
  • Annual conferences and meetings promote young people's views and discuss issues at a national level.
  • Membership of Who Cares? Scotland is open to young people with past or present experience of care and supportive adults who agree with the organisation's aims and beliefs.

In addition to the headquarters in Glasgow, there are branches throughout Scotland. Contact the above address for further details.
