Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a type of blood poisoning. It is rare but potentially serious and can develop quickly in anyone - men, women and children.
The Toxic Shock Syndrome Information Service (TSSIS) provides members of the public, press and medical professionals with factual and balanced information on TSS.
The main activities of the TSSIS include:
- Personalised responses to individual UK enquiries, from the Medical Advisory Panel if appropriate.
- Distribution of information to the general public and third party informers through groups such as the National Union of Students.
