Special Kids in the UK is a member based charity offering contact, information and support for families of children and young people with special needs throughout the United Kingdom. Special Needs covers a broad spectrum including learning, physical and behavioural difficulties.
They are able to offer their members:
- Secure online forum to discuss and gain parental advice on issues that affect their child.
- Ability to use a realtime chat facility to discuss topical subjects and make friends.
- Members only area of their website to disclose more information and members hints and tips within a secure setting.
- Subsidised regular meet ups throughout the United Kingdom and the opportunity to meet others in similar situations.
- Alex's Big Mack Lending Service - the opportunity to borrow a single message communication device for a child with communication difficulties for a period of time.
- Regular electronic newsletter offering information and news on education, services, leisure and respite.
- Useful information received through external organisations on subjects relating to children and young people with special needs.
In addition they offer membership to professionals working with the area of special needs who have their own forum within the discussion board, to the siblings of member's children with additional needs and extended family members.
