Scottish Women's Aid supports the work of local women's aid groups in Scotland and undertakes national work such as training, educating and campaigning. Scottish Women's Aid is a charitable organisation which relies on fundraising and Scottish Executive funding. Those involved may have experienced abuse themselves or are concerned about domestic violence. Women's aid groups in Scotland can offer the following:

- 24 hour help (some of the local groups have a 24 hour number).
- Someone to talk to.
- Information on housing and legal rights.
- Refuges or safe houses where abused women can stay with their children for as long or as often as they need.
- Support for women and children who have left refuges.
- Information and assistance to the children, their mothers and other agencies.
