The Scottish Cot Death Trust was formed in 1985 with the following three aims.
- To fund research into the cause(s) of cot death.
- To support bereaved families and ensure provision of breathing monitors for infants born into a family which has suffered a cot death.
- To educate the public and health care professionals about cot death.
The Trust provides information leaflets for professionals and bereaved families as well as contact with a fieldworker. They can also provide a 'befriender', a parent who has suffered a cot death in the past.
