Established in 1980, the Priory Group is one of Europe's leading independent providers of primary and secondary care for mental health conditions, psychological and psychiatric services including condition management programmes, secure, forensic and step-down services, specialist education, complex care, neuro-rehabilitation services, fostering and care homes with more than 80% of funding coming from the public sector.

Acute psychiatric services
Consultant-led primary and secondary care for children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health conditions including:

  • Addictions
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Depression and bi-polar disorder
  • Eating disorders
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Personality disorders
  • Psychosis
  • Trauma

Specific therapies offered include cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), couples counselling, family therapy, person-centred therapy and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).

Education services
Education and care including respite care for young people aged four upwards with:

  • Asperger's Syndrome (AS)
  • Autistic spectrum disorders (ASD)
  • Behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD)
  • Specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia

Priory schools aim to provide the highest level of education and care enabling individuals to achieve their maximum potential. Many leave with academic qualifications and go on to further education, employment or into our transition care homes providing independent life skill programmes.

Care homes for older people
Nursing and care homes providing a dignified and individual service for residents who may:

  • Be elderly
  • Be frail
  • Require dementia nursing care
  • Require general nursing care
  • Require respite accommodation

The homes are new builds, fit for purpose with en-suite facilities.

Specialist services
Individual care and treatment programmes including forensic services and respite care for:

  • Adults and children with brain injuries (neuro-rehabilitation)
  • Adults with complex and challenging behaviour
  • Adults with learning disabilities
  • Adults with physical disabilities
  • Fostering services
  • Young adults with Asperger's Syndrome and autistic spectrum disorders

Secure services
Individual care and treatment programmes in a secure environment for informal or detained adults across England:

  • Low secure
  • Medium secure
  • Psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU)
  • Rapid prison transfer services
  • Secure step-down facilities
  • Specialist forensic programmes

They also have a low secure adolescent service.

Through the secure and specialist services Priory is able to help challenging individuals progress through care pathways and step-down programmes helping them to increase their independence and quality of life.
