The Primary Immunodeficiency Association (PIA) is a national charity that supports people affected by primary immunodeficiencies (mostly genetic disorders of the immune system) and their families. The Association's main aims are the following.
- To support people with primary immune disorders and their families.
- To help people with these conditions to achieve the best clinical care by immunology consultants at a local level.
- To promote awareness of PIA within the medical profession in order to improve the rates of diagnosis and eliminate the consequent damage to health.
- To make representations on behalf of people with PIA to government, health departments and the pharmaceutical industry.
- To raise funds for research into improved diagnosis, treatment and an eventual cure.
