The Parkinson’s Disease Society funds research that is focused on transforming lives. This research has led to advances in the search for the cause of Parkinson’s, improved medical and surgical treatments, better therapies and equipment, and towards finding a cure.
Their nurses and specialist advisors on the Helpline offer support and advice, giving people the confidence to manage the condition and plan ahead.
Their wide range of information sheets, booklets, and DVDs, answer questions on all aspects of the condition, helping people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers, and professionals involved in the management of the condition. Their network of over 330 branches and support groups located across the UK offer support and services, enabling everyone affected by Parkinson’s and their families to meet others in similar situations.
The Parkinson’s Disease Society campaigns to influence Government policy and the development of high-quality services at a local and national level, including the education of professionals working with people with Parkinson’s.
They believe all people with Parkinson’s should have access to high quality and integrated health and social care services delivered by professionals with a good understanding of the condition wherever they live across the UK.
