The National Development Team for inclusion (NDTi) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that works to improve policies, services, and opportunities for people who are disadvantaged. When the NDT began they were only concerned with people who have learning disabilities, but their work now includes other groups of people - especially people with mental health needs, and older people.
The work that they do includes:
- Consultancy, advising and supporting agencies that deliver services.
- Development Partnerships, which enable them to have continuing relationships with organisations that provide services, and offer advice, training, and mentoring wherever it is needed.
- Training for people who work in services, on a wide range topics.
- Working with people who are disadvantaged, and their friends and allies, so that they are able to take more of a lead in improving services and policies.
- Helping to develop new policies, and new ways of providing services, through projects and by offering their own ideas and views.
They particularly aim to:
- Shape and influence policy and public debate
- Ensure that the voices of excluded people are central to their work
- Support services to work differently so that they promote inclusive lives
- Support communities to be welcoming and inclusive
