Paget's disease, or osteitis deformans, is a chronic bone disorder which occurs when the normal process of bone formation becomes abnormal resulting in dense but fragile bones.

The Paget's Association (previously known as the National Association for the Relief of Paget's Disease ) was founded in 1973 and exists for people with the disease, their families and friends, and the medical profession. Its main aims are as follows:
  • To support and offer information to those with Paget's disease and their relatives or carers.
  • To encourage and assist research into the causes and treatment of the disease.
  • To raise awareness of the disease among the medical profession and the public at large.
  • To provide funding for research.
The Paget's Association can help by the following:
  • Answering general enquiries, particularly to those who have recently been diagnosed.
  • Directing them to appropriate treatment centres.
  • Offering membership to receive regular information and participate in local support groups.
  • Working to raise awareness of Paget's disease.
  • Encouraging and helping to fund research.
The Association produces a quarterly newsletter, fundraising items and publications including: Paget's Disease - The Facts. The Association has achieved accreditation under the Information Standard Scheme.
