NASS (National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society ) is a patient membership organisation, although members of patients' families, as well as many doctors, scientists, and physiotherapists who are working in the disease are also included in the membership. The Society has the following aims.

• To raise awareness of the condition.
• To provide patient education and support.
• To encourage research.

NASS offers the following services.

• A Guidebook for Patients.
• Responding to questions by telephone & email.
• Publication of a twice-yearly newsletter, AS News.
• NASS has a nationwide network of branches each providing physiotherapy one evening a week after working hours. At present there are over 90 branches. The contact points for these branches are listed on the website and in edition of AS News.
