NAPLIC, a registered charity, was founded in 1986. It is an established national organisation for teachers, speech and language therapists and other professionals, led by a volunteer committee elected by the membership, and exists to promote and increase the awareness and understanding of children and young people with speech, language and communication needs, amongst all the professionals involved in meeting their needs.

NAPLIC's mission:

PROMOTING COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE ...
through the provision of opportunities for inter professional discussion, co-operation and networking.

PROMOTING BEST PRACTICE ...
through the provision of an information service, publishing a termly newsletter and organising conferences to ensure the exchange of knowledge, skills, information and research and thereby updating practice.

PROMOTING the interests and concerns of NAPLIC members ...
through liaison with other agencies and organisations and responding to relevant national and regional initiatives and consultations.
