The Living Room is an independent non-profit making charity offering a wide range of free addiction treatment services, mainly for people in the Stevenage area. Each year they work with around 250 people of all ages and from all walks of life to overcome their addictions and lead rich and fulfilling lives.
The Living Room is for anyone experiencing difficulties related to addiction and their family and friends. For example, for people with problems with:
- Alcohol
- Prescribed drugs
- Illicit drugs
- Self-harming
- Eating disorders (eg compulsive over-eating, anorexia and bulimia)
- Gambling
- Addictive relationships
- Any other dependencies
They offer:
- Non-residential structured treatment programmes and structured one-to-one counselling
- Specialised groups for eating disorders, 13-17 year olds, and relationship addiction
- Support for family and friends
- They also provide a créche
Many of their clients are referred to them by their family doctor or another health or social care professional. However, you can self refer by calling 01438 355649. You will have an individual consultation with a senior member of their staff before commencing a treatment programme. The Living Room are abstinence based and use the '12 step' treatment model.
