Landau Kleffner Syndrome (LKS) is a rare form of childhood epilepsy (acquired epileptic aphasia) which results in a severe language disorder. Friends of Landau-Kleffner Syndrome (FOLKS) is a registered charity which provides support to families and carers of children with LKS and information to those families and interested professionals. FOLKS has the following aims:
- To support the families and carers of children with LKS and related disorders.
- To provide information and advice on LKS and related disorders to carers and interested professionals.
- To promote research into the management of LKS.
FOLKS provides the following services.
- Leaflets, Information packs and advice via the Helpline or email.
- Links to families with similarly affected children.
- Annual FOLKS conference for families and professionals.
