The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) is one of the UK's leading baby charities working to prevent sudden infant deaths and promote baby health. FSID:

  • Funds research into the causes of sudden infant death.
  • Supports families who have been devastated by cot death.
  • Promotes lifesaving baby safety advice to parents, carers and professionals.

FSID launched the 'Reduce the Risk' campaign which has reduced the UK cot death rate by 70% since its launch in 1991 and has been hailed as one of the most successful health promotion campaigns ever.

FSID offers:

  • A helpline (number above) for parents, carers and health professionals.
  • A wide range of publications and resources.
  • A network of befrienders to support bereaved families.
  • The 'care of the next infant' (CONI) scheme, in partnership with the NHS, to support bereaved families with subsequent babies.
