EXTEND provides recreational movement to music for the over-sixties and for the less able of any age. The purpose of this is as follows:
- To stimulate physical and mental health.
- To increase mobility and independence.
- To improve strength, stamina, posture and co-ordination.
- To overcome loneliness and isolation - thereby promoting good health and enhancing the quality of life.
EXTEND was founded in 1976 and is now a registered charity. Classes take place throughout the UK in the community, nursing and residential homes, sheltered housing and special needs clubs.
EXTEND teachers take a twelve day basic training course and come from a variety of professional backgrounds. Every teacher is insured and must attend a yearly refresher course. If you would like to find out about EXTEND in your local area please contact the address above.
