Disability Action works to ensure that people with disabilities in Northern Ireland attain their full rights as citizens. There are over 170 member groups covering every aspect of disability: physical, mental, sensory and hidden. Disability Action has produced a 'Charter of Rights' for people with disabilities.
Services include the following:
- The head office (tel no above) provides information on issues such as transport, access, and has a Library Service with a collection of disability-related information for reference. Disability Action also has local offices in Dungannon and Carrickfergus which have an Information Service.
- The Employment and Training Service offers information and support to people with disabilities to assist them in gaining and retaining employment or to participate in Jobskills Vocational Training.
- The Access Service provides technical information on access for disabled people to anyone involved in developing or improving buildings.
- The organisation also provides a range of transport services in and around Belfast.
Disability Action only operates in Northern Ireland.
