Different Strokes is a national charity for young stroke survivors with the purposes of active self help and mutual support. Different Strokes aims to provide the following:
- Access to gyms, physiotherapy, exercise and swimming sessions.
- Practical information packs to survivors.
- Access to counselling services.
- Benefits and rights information.
- Advice and information on further and higher education, special training and work opportunities.
A helpline is available to ensure that prompt and practical responses can be made to the many problems which confront stroke survivors and their families. The helpline is staffed by those who have personal experience of stroke. Information packs are available from the above address. They provide practical information to enable survivors to adapt in the best possible way to their changed circumstances.
