The Christian Lewis Trust aims:
- To improve the quality of life for children/young people affected by cancer.
- To provide emotional and practical support that complements and adds value to the services provided by the statutory authorities.
Providing a confidential 'listening ear' for anyone who is or ever has been affected by a child with cancer - the family centred care includes:
- Holidays - Especially co-ordinated 'stress-free' programmes that ensure that families who need a break in the UK, or wish to visit Disneyland Paris or Disney World Florida, do not have to worry about anything other than enjoying themselves.
- UK - at four specially chosen sites on the beautiful Welsh coastline, in luxury equipped mobile homes, an opportunity for families to spend quality time together and enjoy a complimentary break away from the stresses of the illness.
- Disneyland Paris - a 3-day visit with free on-site Disney accommodation, access to complimentary theme park passes, assistance with travel arrangements ad appropriate insurance cover.
- Disney World Florida - assistance with arranging a tailor made package to include the possibility of staying at the the world renowned 'Give Kids the World Village' (subject to certain criteria) together with a free stay at the charity's own luxury villa - in addition, access to discounted flights, hotel accommodation, free theme park tickets and specialist travel insurance contacts. A number of corporate partners help to ensure the very best of facilities for families.
- Play therapy - Using play and creative arts to help children affected by cancer express their feelings and experiences. In doing so, they are able to communicate their thoughts and emotions enabling them to cope and come to terms with the changes in their lives.
- Be-friending - Either face to face or by telephone or correspondence is available for anyone whose life has been affected by a child with cancer.
- Bereavement - The charity offers 'one to one' bereavement and pre-bereavement support for both children and adults. It also runs support groups providing an opportunity for meeting others who have similar experiences.
