Children at risk on the streets, children in trouble with the law, young refugees, disabled children - these are the priority groups that The Children's Society helps the most.
They operate around 60 projects across England, employing over 500 specialist staff. They provide guidance to young runaways when they find home has become unbearable. They make sure that children in the justice system are treated like children, not locked away as adult criminals. They help refugee children - who often come to the UK alone - find the accommodation and education they deserve. And they communicate with disabled children in order to understand their real needs. Every year they work with 50,000 children directly, while their research and campaigning helps thousands more.
The Children's Society was founded 125 years ago. While their work is based on Christian principles, the children they work with, and those who support us, come from any faith, or none at all.
