The Children's Liver Disease Foundation's (CLDF's) vision is that childhood liver disease will be understood and fought effectively thereby ensuring that young people with liver disease and families will be able to take control of their lives and achieve their full potential.

The objectives of CLDF are:

• To provide emotional support to children and families affected by liver disease.
• To promote research into the causes of childhood liver disease.
• To develop means of an early diagnosis and cure.
• To provide new facilities and trained staff.
• To create a greater awareness of childhood liver disease through education of healthcare professionals and the public.

The support team at CLDF provides practical and emotional support to families affected by childhood liver disease according to individual needs. The support service includes:

• CLDF Literature Service - providing a wide range of leaflets for families and young people including CLDF's medical, nutrition, bereavement and support series.
• CLDF On-Call - someone at the end of the phone and email whenever a family has needs.
• CLDF Face2Face - CLDF support officers attend hospital clinics to meet with families. Families can also choose to meet with the support team at CLDF's offices in Birmingham.
• e-talk - an online forum enabling families to ask questions and share experiences with others affected by childhood liver disease.
