The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) represents counselling and psychotherapy at national and international levels, aims to promote counselling throughout society and to raise standards of training and practice. BACP has an Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy to which members must adhere and they are subject to the Professional Conduct procedure therein. BACP provides support for counsellors and those using counselling skills working in areas such as education, medical settings, the workplace, etc.
The information and publications office produces unique online directories on counselling and training resources and provides information on these and other subjects. Publications include information sheets and booklets on specific counselling topics.
BACP will send local sections of the 'Counselling & Psychotherapy Resources Directory' and an information sheet about counselling free of charge to individuals seeking a counsellor in their area.
If you have any enquiries about the counselling process and what to expect when you go for therapy, ask for the Counselling Information Helpdesk via telephone 01455 883 316.
