Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a leading breast cancer charity dedicated to improving and saving lives through breast cancer prevention, early diagnosis, more targeted treatments and better services for everyone affected by breast cancer.

At the heart of Breakthrough is their research. They support the work over 250 of the world's top scientists focused on studying breast cancer. Their approach to carrying out research is unique - their scientists work closely with medical doctors to turn breakthroughs in the lab into real patient benefit as quickly as possible. Additional ways that Breakthrough is working to achieve its aims are through breast cancer education and campaigning.

Breakthrough produces a range of free information materials that:

  • Introduce the key facts on breast cancer
  • Raise awareness of the factors that affect breast cancer risk
  • Empower women to be breast aware
  • Guide women undergoing diagnosis and treatment for early breast cancer through their care
  • Help women with a family history of breast cancer to understand the services available to them

Information materials can be downloaded at breakthrough.org.uk/publications or ordered free of charge through the information line (08080 100 200, info@breakthrough.org.uk).

Breakthrough has also developed a breast awareness app, iBreastCheck, free for download from the app store.

Breakthrough has a Campaigns & Advocacy Network (CAN) made up of people across the UK who campaign locally and nationally to secure important improvements to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Breakthrough CAN members are also involved in raising breast awareness through local events and activities. Anyone interested in improving services for people affected by breast cancer is welcome to join CAN for free at breakthrough.org.uk/CAN.

For more information on iBreastCheck, Breakthrough CAN, and other breakthrough activities, see breakthrough.org.uk or contact the information line.
