Founded in 1999, Barrett's Oesophagus Campaign (BOC) is a national charity dedicated to the prevention of cancer from Barrett's oesophagus and the support of people living with the disease.
BOC supports research into Barrett's oesophagus and oesophageal cancer by maintaining the Barrett's Oesophagus Registry (UKBOR) and funding research. It also provides support for people with Barrett's oesophagus and their families through the Barrett's Support Network.
BOC's aims are to:
- Support & develop UKBOR, now the world's largest Barretts database & housed at the Royal Free Hospital.
- Support research to better understand Barrett's oesophagus.
- Provide support and advice to people with Barrett's oesophagus and their relatives and friends.
- Raise awareness of the condition to encourage early detection.
