BMS (the British Menopause Society) is a registered charity aimed at the medical profession and is open to healthcare professionals specialising in the menopause, including consultants, trainee gynaecologists, GPs and nursing professionals.
The society is dedicated to advancing education in all matters related to the menopause, through lectures, conferences, meetings and exhibitions.
The challenge of menopause management is increasing. As most British women can expect more than 30 years of post menopausal life, the consequences for immediate and long term healthcare are significant. The society aims to increase awareness of these healthcare issues and promote optimal management through its activities.
Although it is primarily a professional organisation, their website includes information aimed at the general public, including a number of fact sheets on various aspects of the menopause.
The authors and editors of this article are employed to create accurate and up to date content reflecting reliable research evidence, guidance and best clinical practice. They are free from any commercial conflicts of interest. Find out more about updating.
