Autism Anglia was formed in 2008 through the merging of The Essex Autistic Society, Norfolk Autistic Society and NACHA (Norfolk Autistic Community Housing Association).
The charity exists to promote the welfare, education and care of people with autism and in so doing supports and encourages their families, friends and carers.
They provide the following services:
- School Services: Specialist education for 3 - 19 year olds at Doucecroft School in Colchester and further education for 16 - 19 year olds at a department in Kelvedon
- Adult Services: Residential homes around Colchester in Essex and Dereham in Norfolk and the Jigsaw Study Day Centre in Colchester.
- Community Support: Upon request from the Social Services, Autism Anglia can provide autism specific support to individuals living in the community.
- Support Services: Clinical Psychology and Speech & Language services are available to their service users to improve communication and well-being.
- Family Support Service: The Family Support Team offers support and advice to families who face the difficulty of caring for someone on the Autism Spectrum.
- Alert Card: An Autism Alert Card is available free of charge which identifies that the holder has an Autism Spectrum condition.
Their website includes information about autism; the services they provide for children and adults with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, information for families and professionals and the many ways in which people can support the charity.
