The Advisory Centre for Education (ACE) is a national charity that provides independent advice for parents and carers of children aged five to sixteen in state-funded education. ACE's mission is to promote fairness and opportunity in education. They work to benefit children, young people and families through:
- Enabling and empowering parents and carers.
- Encouraging changes in education law and policy.
- Promoting good practice in the education system.
- Listening to and representing the views of users of their services.
At the heart of their work are the free advice services (numbers above) for parents and carers on a range of education and schooling issues. This includes exclusion from school, bullying, special educational needs, school admissions and admission appeals.
ACE also offers accredited training and consultancy services on a range of subjects, including tackling bullying, exclusion and exclusion appeals, admission and admission appeals, and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST).
ACE has established a membership scheme and local authority affiliation scheme, so that more people can benefit from their knowledge and information.
ACE produces in-house publications aimed at parents and carers and all those working with them, including school governors, local authority officers, parent support workers and community development officers. The publications simplify complex legal and educational procedures, explaining them in a clear concise way.
