Action for M.E. is a UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people with M.E. They've been at the forefront of the campaign for more research, better treatments and services since 1987, and they provide information and support to people affected by M.E.
The aims they have in achieving thier mission of improving lives of people with M.E. are:
- Campaigning to improve the environment for people with M.E., and for the widespread recognition of the severity of M.E., meriting appropriate diagnosis and treatment, services and support.
- Empowering and supporting people with M.E., their carers, family and friends and professionals, by facilitating information and dissemination and services, so that they can make informed choices.
- Providing and enabling support for individuals through independent local support groups; a support service including counselling and telephone help-lines; and a dedicated young people's website.
- Representing people with M.E. to ensure that at all levels of policy and service planning their needs are understood and met.
- Acting as a catalyst for the development of research into the treatment and causes of M.E. Promoting, monitoring, analysing and disseminating research into all aspects of the illness.
