Victim Support Scotland is the lead voluntary organisation in Scotland helping people affected by crime. It provides emotional support, practical help and essential information to victims, witnesses and others affected by crime. The service is free and confidential and is provided by over 1000 trained volunteers, through a network of community based victim support services and court based witness services. Victim support services exist in all 32 local authority areas. The witness service operates in every sheriff court in Scotland and the High courts in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Victim Support also operates a Youth Justice Service which is currently being piloted in Dundee, Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire.
Victim Support also provides customised training programmes for other organisations on how to cope with the effects of crime and provides information about other specialist sources of help.
