TALKadoption is a national telephone helpline for young people who want to talk about anything to do with adoption. Calls are free and confidential (some mobile phone networks may charge for calls to freephone numbers. These calls may also be itemised on the phone bill).

The helpline is staffed by a team of trained volunteers, recruited for their ability to listen and offer support. The emphasis is on giving relevant information and a friendly ear to callers who often feel they have no one else to turn to. In many cases TALKadoption offers young people the first opportunity to discuss adoption openly, without feeling inhibited, frightened or ashamed.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
