Usher Services at Sense offers information, support and advice to people with Usher syndrome, their families and friends and also to professionals working in this field.

They provide:

  • General information about Usher and various leaflets on different aspects of Usher syndrome.
  • The "Talking Sense" newsletter usually contains articles about Usher syndrome and the people who have it.
  • Usher group branches of Sense:
    • Currently, one Usher group, Hearing & Sight Impaired UK (HSI UK) is a branch of Sense. HSI UK is a social, support and campaigning group for people who are hearing aid users and who are also blind or visually impaired. Most, but by no means all, members of this group, have Usher Types 2 or 3.
    • Usher UK, a social group for people with any Type of Usher syndrome, is in the process of re-forming. For more information on either of these two groups, please contact the Usher Services.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
