Respond provides a range of services to child, adult and elder victims and perpetrators of abuse who have learning difficulties, and training and support to those working with them.

Formed in 1991, Respond is core-funded by the Department of Health, and has contracts with Health Authorities, Social Service Departments and the Probation Service. Funding has also been provided by such Trusts as the Big Lottery, BBC Children in Need and The Kings Fund.

Referrer(s) and client are seen for separate assessment interviews. Following this a decision is made as to whether the referral is an appropriate one. A therapist will then be allocated to the client.
