Refuge provides safe, emergency accommodation through a growing network of refuges throughout the UK and runs a 24 hour national domestic violence helpline, in partnership with Women's Aid.

Refuge offers a children's programme, individual and group counselling for abused women, outreach services for women from minority ethnic communities, runs media and advertising campaigns to raise public awareness, whilst campaigning and lobbying for better provision for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
