Parents for Children is a registered charity and specialist adoption and fostering agency founded in 1976. Throughout its history, the Agency has used exciting and innovative projects to recruit adoptive families to parent children who are physically or learning disabled, who present very challenging behaviour or who need to be placed in family groups. Local authorities are encouraged to refer these children who might otherwise never experience family life.
In 1995 Parents for Children added a fostering project and now has around 20 families who foster children either long term or temporarily until their legal situation has been sorted and they can be placed permanently. The first choice is to rehabilitate them with their birth families, but if that is not possible then adoption or permanent fostering is the goal.
The Agency also hosts conferences on various topics relating to children and is always keen to find innovative ways to train and support its families.
Interested families are invited to contact the Agency for further information or a discussion with a Social Worker.
