Parentline Plus, the biggest independent provider of parenting support in the country, is a national charity that works for and with parents. They know that parents want to do the best they can for their children, but they also know that family life can sometimes be challenging and difficult. After all, there is no one right way to parent. They encourage parents to see that asking for help is a sign of strength, offer practical solutions, and suggest ways to manage their particular situations and difficulties.

They provide:

  • A free confidential, 24-hour parentline 0808 800 2222
  • A free Textphone for people who are deaf, hard-of-hearing or have a speech impairment 0800 783 6783
  • E-mail support
  • Parents together groups and workshops - face-to-face and by telephone
  • Information leaflets.
  • A helpful website: www.parentlineplus.org.uk
  • Individual parent support
  • Training for professionals
  • Volunteer opportunities

Families come in all shapes and sizes, and they value and celebrate the contribution that so many people make to raising happy and healthy children. Strong and committed investment in family life is the key way to deliver positive outcomes for children, and they act as the voice for parents in the wider community to achieve this.

The Parentline Plus Vision and Values document sets out their values and ambitions for the period 2005-10. It is supported by operational plans for all their services, and by area plans for each area office. The annual business plan sets out the charity's targets and priorities, and includes the annual budget.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
