Panah is a black women's refuge. They provide safe and secure temporary accommodation for women and their dependant children, fleeing from or threatened with domestic violence. Also, outreach service and a drop in - Thursday morning between 9.30 and 12.30. (Phone to book.)
Their aims and objectives are:
- To encourage and participate in research into causes of, effects of and ways of preventing or relieving suffering caused by such harassment and seek statistics and basic records to facilitate research into the long term benefits of such women.
- To provide advocacy and counselling where appropriate for women who consider themselves to be black, suffering domestic violence and their dependent children.
- They provide support to women and children who are survivors of domestic violence in the form of support and group therapy, personal development, raising self esteem and self confidence.
Panah accepts referrals from agencies in the voluntary, statutory sectors and self referrals.
