The Paget Gorman Society is a charitable trust dedicated to helping children with speech and language disorders. Its work depends on voluntary enthusiasts among whom are parents, speech and language therapists, teachers and others who use Paget Gorman Signed Speech (PGGS).

PGSS aims to provide an accurate representation of the English language and lays no claim to being a language in its own right with a separate grammar and vocabulary. Signs are always accompanied by speech, using normal patterns of English that are considered most appropriate. The system is an important educational tool and not necessarily intended to be used as a means of communication throughout life. The Society's activities include the following:

• Provision of information and advice on PGSS for parents and professionals.
• Courses and classes are run by arrangement.
• Maintaining standards of signing and authorizing new signs.
• Acting as an Examining Body and awarding certificates and diplomas to qualified
individuals.

The Society produces a manual, handbooks: Parent's Handbook vols 1,2,3, a children's reader: Can Elephants Fly?, and videos: PGSS: What?, Why?, How?, Who? with accompanying book, and The Filmed Vocabulary to accompany the full manual. Publications are available by mail order from the address above.
