The Ogilvie Trust was founded in 1887 and runs four sheltered housing schemes, two in Suffolk and two in Essex. These sites create a caring and supportive atmosphere for the older residents living independently in the self contained accommodation. The Ogilvie Homes and Almshouses are in Aldringham near Leiston, Suffolk. Charles May House and Estella House are situated in central Colchester, Essex.
The Trust also runs the following Funds:
- The Margaret Champney Rest and Holiday Fund usually gives grants to enable carers to have a complete break from the person to whom care is normally provided. Occasionally it is possible to assist where carer and cared for wish to holiday together.
- The Straitened Circumstances Fund which gives small grants to individuals in need. It may help with the purchase of essential items which cannot be supplied by statutory agencies, such as cookers, beds and clothing etc.
- No.2 Trust Deed, grants may be given to any charitable organisation in Suffolk Essex or the London Boroughs, preference being given to those catering to the needs of the elderly.
- The Mary Catherine Ford Smith Fund gives grants to charitable organisations, but as well as considering applications from Suffolk Essex and London it may also consider applications countrywide.
