OAASIS - the Office for Advice, Assistance, Support and Information on Special Needs - provides a free information and advice service for parents, teachers and other professionals with an interest in special education for children and young adults.

OAASIS can help in the following areas:

  • Information on the diagnosis you have received about your child.
  • The statementing process.
  • What special help your child should be getting in school if he/she has a statement of SEN.
  • Finding a local parent support group for a particular learning difficulty.
  • Finding a suitable special school for your child if he/she cannot cope in mainstream.
  • Providing you with a list of specialist legal teams who can support you through the tribunal and appeal process.
  • Miscellaneous research.
