The National Blind Children's Society (NBCS) supports blind and visually impaired children and their families. NBCS offers expertise, information and support to the family from the moment a child is diagnosed as visually impaired through until the age of 25. Their objective is to help your child gain the skills and confidence they need to lead a full life.
NBCS offer five key services:
- Education Advisory Service - to ensure your child receives the best possible education at every stage.
- CustomEyes Books - a large print book service, producing fiction and non-fiction titles along with revision guides, customised to meet your child's individual needs.
- ICT & Sensory Equipment - ensuring your child has the correct equipment at home and at school.
- Holidays & Activities - giving visually impaired children the opportunity to participate with fully sighted children in a programme of recreational activities. A choice of family wekends and activity days.
- Family Support and Information - offering a comprehensive, holistic approach at the time of diagnosis and throughout the child's life.
