Liberty is an independent human rights organisation which works to defend and extend rights and freedoms in England and Wales.
They aim to secure equal rights and freedoms for everyone by:
- Lobbying government.
- Working with the media to keep human rights issues in the public eye.
- Pursuing human rights test cases through the English courts and the European Court of Human Rights, to challenge human rights violations and secure changes in the law.
- They aim to keep their web-site up-to-date with developments and to provide background information on key civil liberties and human rights issues.
- Get details of their Legal Advice Line, which provides advice and referrals for individuals whose human rights have been abused.
- Read about Liberty's history - they have been protecting and promoting rights and freedoms since 1934.
