The Health Promotion Agency for Northern Ireland is a statutory, non-departmental public body that works to initiate, stimulate, develop and support health promotion at a regional level. The Agency is involved in the following areas:

  • Preparing, publishing and distributing material relevant to health promotion. (This is generally only distributed within Northern Ireland but many publications are available on the Agency's main website as PDF files.)
  • Providing a regional centre for information and advice on health promotion.
  • Advising the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety on matters relating to health promotion.
  • Undertaking health promotion activity.
  • Sponsoring research and evaluation in relation to health promotion.
  • Assisting in the provision of training in health promotion.
