The Haemophilia Society was established in 1950 to serve the needs of people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders. The Society represents the interests of people with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders by providing help to them and their families, securing high standards of treatment, making representations to Government, publishing information useful to members, doctors and health care professionals. Other areas of help include:
- Keeping members up to date on treatment and care through literature.
- Putting people in touch with local groups.
- Assistance in dealing with Disability Living Allowance and other benefit applications.
- Advice on (special) travel arrangements, treatment centres abroad and in the UK, and with documentation.
- Providing advice and answering questions about living with haemophilia and related bleeding disorders.
- Providing activity weekends for young people with bleeding disorders.
- Raising awareness of women with bleeding disorders.
- Support for patients with an inhibitor.
- Tanner fund - grants for essential purchases.
