The Elimination of Leukaemia Fund's mission is to advance the cure and treatment of leukaemia and related blood disorders. This mission is implemented in the following four ways.

Funding research

ELF is a major funder of leukaemia research at King's College Hospital, London, and is also funding work at a number of other major centres including the Institute of Child Health, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Belfast City Hospital. ELF favours 'patient centred' work so that there is an immediate or near future benefit to sufferers of leukaemia and the related blood disorders.

Supporting health professionals

ELF has a Travel and Training Fellowship scheme in order to allow doctors, nurses, researchers and related health professionals to advance their ability to treat leukaemia sufferers.

Sponsoring activities to improve patient quality of life

ELF has sponsored a number of innovative projects including the 'Room with a View' project at Dorset County Hospital and the 'Humanscape' project at King's. They have also funded the provision of TVs, fridges and laptop computers for patient use in hospitals.

Providing financial support to patients in hardship

Over the years ELF has been able to help a number of patients, and their dependents, who found themselves in financial difficulties

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.
