Department of Health, Health Advice for Travellers

Web: www.dh.gov.uk/PolicyAndGuidance/HealthAdviceForTravellers/fs/en

The Department of Health, Health Advice for Travellers website includes health information for UK residents travelling abroad and gives details of where to obtain further information. It stresses the need to be properly prepared for the possibility of falling ill or having an accident while abroad.

The sites include details of the booklet Health Advice for Travellers. This gives detailed information on health precautions, reciprocal health agreements, and vaccinations. It also contains Form E111 which entitles you to free or reduced cost emergency medical treatment in many EU countries. All travellers going abroad are advised to get this booklet.

PS - Health and Poverty

Perhaps the biggest cause of ill health in the world is poverty. Help to Make Poverty History. For example, why not lend some of your money to disadvantaged communities to enable them to trade their way out of poverty through schemes such as Shared Interest.

See also MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY North East for details and links to campaigns against poverty.
