Action Against Allergy (AAA) has the following aims:
- To provide information to those made chronically ill through different forms of allergy and to those who care for them.
- To encourage diagnosis and treatment through the National Health Service and to maintain a register of nation-wide resources.
- To co-ordinate an information centre on all aspects of allergy and allergic illness and on relevant treatments and aids.
- To raise funds for vital research into the causes and treatment of allergic illness.
Membership of the organisation is open to all. The annual subscription rate for 2007/8 is £15 UK and Eire. Members receive a newsletter three times a year, access to a telephone talk-line network, advice and library resources.
Membership of AAA gives the benefit of knowing individuals are not alone in their fight for better health. Many of the problems faced are common to other allergic people. AAA can put people in touch with other members. Requests for specific information at any time will be given individual attention and guidance can be given towards the best professional help.
Information packs and leaflets are available to non-members at a small cost. The Charity's 'find a doctor' service provides contact details of nearest allergy specialists (NHS or private), dietitians and complementary therapists. Please send a stamped self addressed envelope to the address above for a publications list and further information or visit the website.
