Lumps in the Neck

Neck lumps can be caused by various processes such as;

  • normal growth of the larynx or voice box at male puberty
  • minor skin problems eg acne, lipomas and seborrhoeic warts
  • pea like lymph nodes beneath the skin - often caused by the body's response to infection, but sometimes indicating more serious disease
  • deeper thyoid swelling alongside the larynx (possible hyperthyroidism)
  • rarely, tumours of the larynx and other organs
It is worth seeking medical advice about neck lumps that are unsightly, cuase concern or are related to structures beneath the skin. Provide feedback
