Iloprost

About iloprost

Iloprost works by increasing the supply of blood to the lungs and reducing the workload of the heart.
Before using iloprost
Before using iloprost make sure your doctor or pharmacist knows:
- If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding.
- If you suffer from liver or kidney problems.
- If you suffer from heart problems.
- If you have a stomach ulcer.
How to use iloprost
- Iloprost nebuliser solution will be started in hospital.
- Thereafter, you will inhale nebulised solution several times a day as directed by your doctor.
Getting the most from your treatment
- If you smoke, you should stop.
- If iloprost comes into contact with your skin, wash with plenty of water.
Can iloprost cause problems?
Along with their useful effects all medicines can cause unwanted side effects, which usually improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side effects continue or become troublesome.

| Nausea Vomiting |
Eat little and often. Stick to simple foods such as dry toast. If you are sick, drink plenty of liquid. |
| Headache | Ask your pharmacist to recommend a suitable pain-killer. |
| Dizziness | Make sure your reactions are normal before driving, operating machinery or doing any other jobs which could be dangerous if you were not fully alert. |
| Facial flushing | There is little that can be done about this, but when treatment stops, the flushing will disappear. |
How to store iloprost
- Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
