Betaxolol Eye Drops work by lowering pressure in the eye.
Before using betaxolol eye drops
Before using betaxolol eye drops make sure your doctor or pharmacist knows:
- If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding.
- If you have suffered from heart problems.
- If you suffer from diabetes mellitus.
- If you have any thyroid problems.
- If you suffer from asthma or other breathing problems.
- If you suffer from sicca syndrome (dry eyes and dry mouth).
- If you suffer from myasthenia gravis.
- If you are due to have any operations.
- If you take part in sports at a national/international level.
How to use betaxolol eye drops
- Wash your hands before instilling your eye drops.
- The usual dose is one drop twice a day.
- Do not instill more than one drop at a time.
- If you are using more than one type of eye drop, leave a gap of at least five minutes between applications.
Getting the most from your treatment
- If you wear soft contact lenses, you should remove these before instilling eye drops, and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
- Keep your regular appointments so that your condition can be monitored.
- Eye drops have an expiry of 28 days (unless unit dose, in which case throw away after use).
Can betaxolol eye drops cause problems?
Along with their useful effects all medicines can cause unwanted side effects, which usually improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side effects continue or become troublesome.

How to store betaxolol eye drops
- Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light.
