Carmellose Sodium
About Carmellose Sodium
This belongs to the group of medicines known as mucoprotectants.
Ulcers of the mouth (looking like a white spot) are a nuisance and can be very painful. Their cause is not fully understood, but they may happen when a small cut in the mouth occurs.Carmellose sodium sticks to the inside of the mouth acting as a protective layer over the ulcers allowing them to heal underneath.
Carmellose sodium is available as a paste, and as a powder which can be sprinkled onto the affected area.
It is also sometimes known as: Orabase Paste; Orahesive Powder. You may notice the use of any of these names on the packaging of your medicine.
